It’s September, which means it’s time for another month of our Blind Date With My Bookshelf! If you missed the first month, check it out here.
My best friend Karami came over so that we could exchange our books for the month of September.
For her book, I chose The Rule Book by Sarah Adams. Football Season is starting, so I thought it was a good time for her to finally read this one! The Rule Book is the sequel to The Cheat Sheet, a popular booktok football romance. I read it a few months ago, and I loved being able to revisit with the characters that I’d loved in the first book!

For my book, Karami chose One For My Enemy by Olivie Blake. Confession time: I have 6 books by Olivie Blake on my bookshelf (plus her YA novel Twelfth Knight written under the name Alexene Farol Follmuth), and I have read none of them. I know I’ll like them based on reviews I’ve seen, and all of her books are so beautiful…I just haven’t gotten to any of them yet!
When I picked up this one, I read the first line on the back and knew I needed to read it. “In modern-day Manhattan where we lay our scene, two rival witch families fight to maintain control of their respective criminal empires.” Sound familiar? Yep, that’s Romeo & Juliet.
I was a child of the ’90s, meaning I grew up watching the incomparable Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes movie version of the classic love story, memorizing lines from the movie with my friends as if it were our favorite song.
I can’t wait to finally read my first Olivie Blake book. Come back later this month for my review!
